Raluca Marinescu Voice and Piano Studio

Studio Policies

GENERAL STUDIO INFORMATION

·      Studio Equipment – Students (especially young children), please be careful with the studio equipment (keyboard, microphones, cables, headphones, music stands, etc.)

·      Students are expected to bring all materials (assignment folders, music books, and otherwise) to every lesson.

·      Keep it Clean! ALL students are REQUIRED to wash their hands before each lesson. Students must also remove wet/muddy shoes before entering the studio. Food, gum, and non-water drinks are prohibited in the studio.

·      I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone that might not yet be ready for lessons due to age, maturity or health related issues. I will not teach those who show disrespect towards any individual or property, do not represent the studio or themselves in a professional manner or those who do honor or respect my policies.

PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS

·      If there is a lack of progress, there is probably a lack of practice! A student’s progress is determined by dedicated practice, not by simply attending lessons. Ideally, students should practice 4-5 days a week. Specific amounts of practice time are not assigned to each student. Instead, students should practice long enough to complete their weekly assignments.

·      The quality of practice time is more important than the quantity of practice time.

·      Parental Support is an extremely important factor in musical training. Students whose parents take an active role in their progress tend to be more enthusiastic and productive. Create a quiet space where the student can practice, and schedule a time for practice each day.

CANCELLATION POLICIES

Cancellation by Student

The studio has a strict 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

If a student is a “no-show” or if a lesson is cancelled by the student with less than 24-hours notice, the lesson will be forfeited and the tuition will not be refunded for the missed lesson.

Students are allowed to reschedule ONE lesson per month in the event of illness, family emergency or school events. Please notify me by 12pm if you cannot attend. Students who are mildly ill can schedule an online lesson during their regular time.

If the student misses more than 2 lessons in a 4-week period without advance notice, I reserve the right to drop the student. It is not possible to make progress if the student is missing lessons excessively.

Illness

Singing while sick can be harmful to the voice. In addition, the teacher would like to protect herself, her family, and her students from exposure to various viruses. Therefore, the student should cancel or reschedule if they are sick. It is recommended to inform the teacher as soon as possible if you suspect you are sick. As an alternative to an in-person lesson, the student may request an online session with no vocalizing (Ex: vocal diction, ear training, music reading, repertoire and audition consultation). If the student arrives to an in-person lesson while sick, this will be considered a cancellation without 24 hours' notice.

Online lessons are also available for make up if you are sick and unable to attend your lesson time.

Cancellation by Teacher

If I am forced to cancel a scheduled lesson for any reason, I will provide notice and I will make up the lesson at the nearest available time.
